Olena Zelenska on Instagram: “The Russian occupiers are killing Ukrainian children. Consciously and cynically.18-month-old Kirill from Mariupol was urgently taken to the hospital by his parents. He was wounded by the shelling, and doctors could do nothing.Alice from Okhtyrka. She could have turned eight years old. However, she died in the shelling with her grandfather, who was protecting her. Polina from Kyiv. She died during the shelling on the streets of our capital, along with her parents and brother. Her sister is in critical condition.Arseniy, 14 years old. A fragment of the projectile hit his head. The medics could not reach the boy under the gunfire. Arseniy bled to death.Sofia, 6 years old. She, along with her оne and half month old brother, mother, grandmother, and grandfather, were shot to death in their car. The family tried to leave Nova Kakhovka.I have to tell you about it. At least 38 children have already died in Ukraine. And this figure might be increasing this very moment due to the shelling of our peaceful cities! When people in Russia say that their troops are not hurting the civilian population, show them these pictures! Show them the faces of these children who weren’t even given a chance to grow up. How many more children must die to convince Russian troops to stop firing and allow humanitarian corridors? We need corridors in the hottest cities in Ukraine right now! Hundreds of children die there in basements without food and medical care. Russian soldiers shoot families who try to leave the buildings. They also kill volunteers who try to help. I appeal to all the unbiased media in the world! Tell this terrible truth: Russian invaders are killing Ukrainian children. Tell it to Russian mothers – let them know what exactly their sons are doing here, in Ukraine.Show these photos to Russian women – your husbands, brothers, compatriots are killing Ukrainian children! Let them know that they are personally responsible for the death of every Ukrainian child because they gave their tacit consent to these crimes. To NATO countries: close the sky over Ukraine! Save our children, because tomorrow it will save yours!#NoFlyZoneUA #closeUAskyNOW #NATOclosethesky #stoprussia”

Olena Zelenska on Instagram: “It’s impossible to remain calm when young patients at the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital, which handles the most complicated cases in the country, are now being treated in bomb shelters. But our children will have better conditions! I am currently receiving and processing humanitarian aid proposals from all over the world. They address the issues such as the treatments, shelter for children deprived of parental care, providing conditions for youths to continue their education. With Poland 🇵🇱 and France🇫🇷, we are working on sending Ukrainian children for further medical treatment and have already initiated the process of sending young patients abroad. With Turkey🇹🇷 – on the possibility of providing shelter for orphans. With Lithuania 🇱🇹- we are discussing the idea of creating an educational and cultural hub for our children. After the horrors of war and the hardships of evacuation, they need a chance to socialize, communicate with peers, learn, and adapt more than ever.I receive major help and support from my colleagues – first ladies from other countries. We actively cooperate on the matter with the First Lady of France, Bridget Macron, and the First Lady of Lithuania, Diana Nausedene; I receive great support from the First Lady of Turkey, Emine Erdogan and Agatha Duda, the First Lady of Poland.I thank the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Affairs for their collaboration and quick response.I’m thankful to our foreign diplomatic missions for their activism and involvement. Our children will undoubtedly recover, physically and emotionally, to live joyful lives in a peaceful Ukraine. 🇺🇦It is important to know that we are not alone because Ukrainians are now fighting on behalf of the whole world.”

An Open Letter to the Global Media by Olena Zelenska
Olena Zelenska on Instagram: “An Open Letter to the Global Media by Olena Zelenska Recently, an overwhelming number of media outlets from around the world have reached out with requests for interviews. This letter serves as my answer to these requests and is my testimony from Ukraine. What happened just over a week ago was impossible to believe. Our country was peaceful; our cities, towns, and villages were full of life.On February 24th, we all woke up to the announcement of a Russian invasion. Tanks crossed the Ukrainian border, planes entered our airspace, missile launchers surrounded our cities.Despite assurances from Kremlin-backed propaganda outlets, who call this a “special operation” – it is, in fact, the mass murder of Ukrainian civilians.Perhaps the most terrifying and devastating of this invasion are the child casualties. Eight-year-old Alice who died on the streets of Okhtyrka while her grandfather tried to protect her. Or Polina from Kyiv, who died in the shelling with her parents. 14-year-old Arseniy was hit in the head by wreckage, and could not be saved because an ambulance could not get to him on time because of intense fires. When Russia says that it is ‘not waging war against civilians,’ I call out the names of these murdered children first. Our women and children now live in bomb shelters and basements. You have most likely all seen these images from Kyiv and Kharkiv metro stations, where people lie on the floors with their children and pets – trapped beneath. These are just consequences of war for some, for Ukrainians it now a horrific reality. In some cities families cannot get out of the bomb shelters for several days in a row because of the indiscriminate and deliberate bombing and shelling of civilian infrastructure. The first newborn of the war, saw the concrete ceiling of the basement, their first breath was the acrid air of the underground, and they were greeted by a community trapped and terrorized. At this point, there are several dozen children who have never known peace in their lives. This war is being waged against the civilian population, and not just through shelling. To Continue Reading, Swipe Left.”

Olena Zelenska on Instagram: “Today is a significant day. Not just for me, but I hope that it is significant for all of Ukraine. I presented our Foundation to the rest of the world. Today is the culmination of all the work we have been doing since the beginning of the invasion to help our people survive in these new and trying times.Russia bombed our hospitals. We evacuated children with cancer to safe neighbouring countries. Our people – children and adults – lost their extremities as a result of the attacks. We found the best prosthetics for them abroad. Our women went into premature labour as a result of the constant stress. We imported specialised incubators for their premature babies to ensure their survival.Nevertheless, the war continues to create new challenges for us. I came to realise that the only way we could respond to calls for help as quickly as possible was to hire staff to become first responders in these crises. These people are the Foundation. When you try and create initiatives such as this one, it is incredibly important to understand why you are doing this and for whom. I know who and what I am fighting for.The Individual – and their wellbeing – is the centre of my Foundation. I believe that the restoration of a country must start with its people. If we can improve their lives and restore their strengths, the country will follow. The Foundation has three key directions:➡️ Humanitarian aid➡️ Access to affordable, high-quality medicine➡️ EducationOur task is to help life persevere and flourish despite these circumstances. In order to do that, we need hospitals, schools, work placements, employment and opportunities. And so, in New York, I debuted my Foundation, I implored each and every world leader to contribute to the restoration of Ukraine.I asked them to actively oppose the destruction and chaos brought by Russia and focus on the reconstruction of Ukraine. To put into practice our shared values that centre around the wellbeing of every individual life. ☀️Ukraine is currently fighting for these values and for the people. By protecting these values, Ukraine is making the world a better, safer and fairer place.”
